Each of the 13 states in the economic Appalachian region has its own difficulties in providing affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare. In order to create the biggest impact with our donations, each sale in the A Nice Lark series generates funds for wellness initiatives and organizations in a specific Appalachian state. We’re starting with our home state of Ohio. More than a third of Ohio’s counties lie within the Appalachian region, and something found in each of these counties is the official state bird of Ohio – the Northern Cardinal, and the official state flower – the Red Carnation. These symbols are reflected in this pin, and our mission is to ensure wellness is as prevalent in these counties as this scarlet bird and flower.
